About Nezumiya
Nezumiya is a family-owned business operated by a mother and son team. We create a variety of handcrafted items. Each piece is made with love and attention to detail. Our mission is to add a unique touch to your life, enhancing your character.
Where we got our name
It’s been a long-standing joke to call me “Rat” instead of Ray, so we embraced the humor and chose it as one of our mascots. In Japanese, “鼠 – Nezumi” means Rat and “屋 – Ya” means shop, so together they translate to “Rat’s Shop.”
Where our logo comes from
We decided to create our own logo based on various ideas we brainstormed. We started by incorporating the Kanji characters for “Nezumi” (Rat) and “Ya” (Shop) to craft something unique. By exploring the historical roots and traditional forms of these Kanji, we experimented with different designs. Eventually, we arrived at our current logo: an old-style 屋 with “Nezumi” written within it, accompanied by rat features.
Where we got our slogan from
Character: A distinctive quality of a thing or class
At Nezumiya, our constant aspiration has been to craft products imbued with character. We aim to evoke a sense of happiness in everyone who receives our creations. One saying that particularly resonates with us is: “It adds to the character.” This phrase embodies our belief that we are not creating character for people, but rather enhancing their already existing character.
